Alexandra Pechman is a freelance writer currently based in Los Angeles. She has previously lived in China and Brazil, and often reports from both these places. A contributing writer at W, her writing has also appeared in/at Artforum.com, the Guardian, NYLON, Vogue.com, the New York Times, WSJ. Magazine, Poetry Foundation, and Tin House, among many other publications.
Before freelancing full-time, she worked as an editor at Aperture Foundation and at Artnews. She graduated from Northwestern’s Medill School of Journalism with degrees in magazine journalism and in English. She also goes by Ali.
